Halloween

Our elementary school has a costume parade every year. The parents are invited to come and watch it.

Our next door neighbors host an annual potluck dinner every Halloween in their driveway. It is fun to visit with friends and neighbors before trick-or-treating.

 In our neighborhood everyone sits out in their driveways to pass out candy. Some of the neighbors hand out homemade root beer and homemade donuts, others dress up and one house puts together a haunted house for the kids.  This is one of our favorite nights of the year.

 

The weekend before Halloween our ward (church) hosts a dinner, carnival and trunk-or-treat.

The Monday before Halloween we carve pumpkins and make caramel apples for family home evening.

Thanksgiving Breakfast & Turkey Pit

 Another amazing family on our street hosts an annual Thanksgiving morning breakfast. There is also a fun run before the breakfast for those who want to participate.

Another family on our street has a big pit in their backyard. Every year they cook several turkeys in it overnight. They take them out on Thanksgiving morning. 

This method makes the BEST turkeys.

Our Street Annual Gingerbread House Decorating Party

One of our amazing neighbors across the street hosts an annual gingerbread house party for all of the kids on our street. Each family brings a can of frosting and a bag of candy. The kids love it! See the kids in the shorts and bare feet? Arizona winters are the BEST!
