We put together a candy countdown during our last family home evening in November. Both of our kids love cutting off the candies every morning. We also decorate our Christmas tree together.
We have a Christmas book collection and every year we add on to it. We are looking forward to starting the Elf of the Shelf tradition with our next children.
We have a Christmas village. Kaylee loves to help set this up.
Geoff bought this nativity as a souvenir from Jerusalem. It was hand carved.
Every year we decorate gingerbread houses during one of our family home evenings in December.
Both of our kids have their own 3 foot Christmas trees in their bedrooms. They like to go to sleep looking at the lights on their trees. They each have an ornament collection. Every year we make some homemade ornaments for their trees.
When our kids were younger we would read the Gingerbread Man story and then have them follow a trail of gum drops around the house to try and find where the Gingerbread Man had ran off to. The kids loved this but have outgrown it. We are excited to start this tradition back up again with our next children.
I love to bake at Christmas time. Some of our favorite Christmas treats are sugar cookies, bun bread, almond bars, oreo balls, divinity, and peanut butter kiss or cup cookies. We usually make plates of treats for our neighbors.
Grandma Dew has a Polar Express movie party/sleepover for the grand kids.
on Christmas Eve.
Every year we go to see the temple lights and then stop for a treat on the way home.
A family on our street hosts a neighborhood talent show for a family home evening every Christmas season. The kids love dancing, singing, playing the piano or telling jokes. This time Kaden and his friend told jokes while their other friend rode around them in circles on a little bike. Kaylee and some of her friends performed a dance. These talent shows are always fun and entertaining! :)
